Odd Behavior Opening Programs in Windows 7

Post by desktop on Sun 23 May 2010, 6:16 pm

Lately there's been something odd happening in my new Windows 7 PC. Sometimes when I click on one of my browser icons in the taskbar (either Firefox or Chrome) nothing happens. I have the Aero themed taskbar so when I click these icons I can see they highlight and then a small rotating disc appears (I take it this is Win7's equivalent of the old hourglass symbol), but then nothing opens. However, once in a while (when this odd behavior happens) the browsers will sometimes open long after I've clicked their icons, which is really strange.

I scan my computer for viruses and malware/spyware on a daily basis and nothing has been reported. I followed your instructions for using HiJackThis and below is the log report it generated:

I'm not sure what's going on, but it seems rather odd behavior for a newly installed OS. If anyone can help me with this I would sure appreciate it.

Thank you.

Just curious if anyone has seen this. I was going to reinstall Win7, but I'm refraining from this because I just reformatted it last week. Plus it takes forever to configure Thunderbird the way I like it (I hate the new IMAP settings).

I guess I'll go somewhere else and try to get help with this. Your FAQ said if no response in two days to bump it, and I did that, but still no response. Thanks anyway.

Wow. No responses at all. Guess I'll delete this forum from my bookmarks then.
