Secunia and Threatfire

Post by norfolkone on Tue May 04, 2010 2:27 pm

I have seen Threatfire mentioned in a few threads in this forum and I have been using it for a while myself as braces to go with the belt Comodo provides. However, I do not see any mention on here of Secunia PSI. So my question is... does anyone else use Secunia as part of their free security regime?

I recommend that my users visit secunia's software inspector and that does recommend flash/adobe and Java updates if it finds an outdated version.

Malware targets older versions of Java and flash/adobe.

Secunia software inspector & update checker

And Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) is excellent for all vulnerable out-dated programs as well.

Excellent work - Secunia also picks up on a multitude of other programs that pose a security risk and need updating. The latest versions have included a simplified update facility and the program is still free, so people should use it regularly to complement the existing Microsoft Update feature.
