Win32/Nuqel.E - virus

Post by Huwgo on Mon 03 May 2010, 1:16 am

I am currently infected by a virus named 'Win32/Nuqel.E'. It prevents me from opening any .exe files so I am unable to download any removal tools that can get rid of this, I amn unable to open programs like Microsoft Word and Publisher, and this is a major issue for me as I need these programmes to finish coursework due in very soon. Every so often a small box opens in the corner of my screen telling me I am infected, it asks me if I want to block the attack if I click Yes it takes me to a website with anti virus software which is obviously fake. Also Internet Explorer opens which displays a porno site and other error messages, so access to IE is not possible.

I am also infected with Bankerfox.A which is similar to Win32/Nuqel, they both do the same thing so i'm guessing they are linked.

I use a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really need to finish my coursework and I'm currently unable to do so.

Download OTL by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.
