Bankerfox.A and Nuqel.E

Post by nuqelbanker on Fri Apr 02, 2010 8:32 am

Hi! I have been infiltrated by Bankerfox.A and Nuqel.E. I have looked at initial advice you give to other users but the programs seem to have damaged my PC so badly i cannot even follow the very initial steps. I was able to download the hijack tool with the winlogon.exe file via my mozilla browser but cannot open it. The following error pops up:

---------------------------
Security Warning
---------------------------
Application cannot be executed. The file winlogon.tmp is infected.
Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?
---------------------------
Yes No
---------------------------

so it always claims any program i want to open is infected and cannot be opened. I have clamwin antivirus program and it also says it is infected and cannot be opened. I tried the OTL file and it also says it is infected and cannot be opened, the only thing that opens is the antivirus software and windows security alerts.

i have been able to run OTL and i am posting the logs below. please help. thanks!!

hi - i have changed the proxy settings in both the explorer and mozilla and restarted my pc. the ESET online scanner gets stuck at the beginning though when i click start, after installing activex, it wants to download virus software or updates and quickly the following msg appears:

"cannot get update. is proxy configured?"

i have definitely followed the steps on unticking the proxy settings as described above. the online scanner is stuck. what shall i do?

thank you very much for your help so far. you guys definitely deserve a nice donation!!

it seems to be running really fine now and i don't see any problems. just two final questions:

1) can i be sure all the malicious items are removed now? i am quite anxious about logging in to my bank account etc from my laptop now. do you think everything is clean?

2) can you recommend me a good antivirus program? i was using clamfin but it doesn't seem to have helped.

thank you very much for all your help!

Hello.

Updating your Firefox would likely help, your using an very old outdated version.

Please download [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and install it. It will install over version 3.0 you currently have installed, so you won't lose any bookmarked websites.

If you switch AV, you'll need to uninstall Clamfin first.

1) [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
-Free anti-virus software for Windows.
-Detects and removes more than 50,000 viruses. Free support.

It is strongly recommended that you run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

thanks for your antivirus advice. currently the only program i run is Microsoft Security Essentials. Do you think Antivir is better than MS Security essentials? will it be safer to switch? thanks.
