XP defender and infectedcdrom.sys

Post by chet on 28th March 2010, 6:48 am

New to this forum and need some help.
I'm running Windws XP SP2 on a Toshiba Satellite A70.
Unwisely connected to the internet w/o antivirus and got XP defender, a fake antivirus program. I have now installed a version of AVG or Bit Defender, not sure which since it's free from my Internet provider.
The real AV program has removed many viruses, trojans and other threats, but cannot fix the cdrom.sys.

Any ideas?
