Virus - I think?

Post by austin15 on Tue Mar 23, 2010 8:45 pm

I woke up today to my Dell Laptop having 47 various IE windows open (I don't use IE - Thought I had uninstalled it actually) along with many Alert type boxes telling me that my computer was being attacked by a virus.

One such box showed the IPs port and attack port and the threat - one was win32/nuqel.e; the other was bankerfox.a.

Other boxes were a security warning dialog box saying that "Application cannot be executed. The file wuauclt.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivrus software now?"

In addition Windows Security Center keeps appearing showing my virus protection is out of date. Which is not true (I use AVG 9.0 Free)

I saw in another post that someone else was having similar problems so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Download [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.
