Hello.

Download [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - Please PM me if I fail to respond within 24hrs.

Pulled hard drive and connected to another laptop via sata to usb connection. Ran Trend Micro Pro which found 32 threats, removed 25. Still infected. Pop ups even come up in safe mode.

Desktop won't access the internet anymore. Copied files below to flash drive. Extras.txt

SREng did not show any errors. Can't attach picture or URL (won't accept JPG as a file type?)

okay so it did attach afterall

Also, I had to unzip SREng on another computer; this desktop is not allowing any *.exe files to be downloaded or even unzipped.

Hello.
Did you run SREng on the machine that can't run .exe files?

When I unzipped the file on the suspect desktop, the *.exe didn't extract. The rest of the files/folders did extract. I downloaded the SReng zip on another desktop, extracted, then copied the *.exe to the suspect desktop. The SReng.exe appeared to run fine. Just did not show any errors.

The suspect desktop will download files from the internet just not *.exe by themselves, and won't extract them.

Hello.

Please download exeHelper from one of the two links.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Double-click on exeHelper.com or exeHelper.scr to run the fix.
  • A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
  • Post the contents of log.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com)
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

I see you don't have Firefox installed, the problem with downloading exe files is probably some security setting in IE, so I recommend switching to Firefox.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Try download exe files in Firefox, see if it works.

If I put the site in the Trusted Site list, I can download the file. I'll if my father likes firefox. He is 80 - doesn't deal with change well. Smile Had a hard enough time convincing him it was his computer that was infected not "the Internet".

thanks.
