Infected with antimalware doctor

Post by adixon1 on 2nd March 2010, 7:13 pm

My Acer Aspire has been infected with the antimalware doctor. I'm running Windows 7 and tried to fix this with anti malware bytes and spy bot. My computer is running much slower and has the annoying pop up telling me to sign up for this fake program. Any help will be great. Thanks All.

Re: Infected with antimalware doctor

Post by Belahzur on 2nd March 2010, 7:23 pm

Hello.

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.

Please make sure Teatimer is disable before we do this, otherwise this fix will fail.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [dbf70700.exe] C:\Users\ADIX\AppData\Roaming\E03EB29B87926CE6761C14EFF39F049C\dbf70700.exe

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

Download [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.

Re: Infected with antimalware doctor

Seems to be so much better! No more AntiMalware Doctor! Thanks so much. I still have quick registry 2.0 that opens and pops up after windows starts. Do you know how to remove? I tried to uninstall with the control panel and it said some files had to be done manually. Could it be something with registry 2.0 exe? Thank you once again for all the help.

ESET was run 100 % and now says unexpected error 2002. Microsoft security essentials popped up saying 1 potential threat was detected and suspended. Also another internet explorer page opened and began running another fake virus scan around the 95 % part of the eset scan.
