I have 1.5 mbps service from my cable provider yet my download speeds max out at 200kbps. Ethernet card and router are capable of handling over 100mbps. Internet provider says i should be able to achieve speeds up to 1.5mbps. Speed test on the internet say i am getting 1.5 to 1.6 mbps. Why is downloading only 200kbps? This happens everytime and from any site with any dowmloader. Is there a way to change this? and i havent any viruses or software running in background. Any advice appreciated.

Are you downloading at 200 kbps or 200 KB/s because both are different. Megabits and Megabytes are different to one another where 1 byte is equal to 8 bits.
So 200 KB/s is about 1600 Kbps which is about 1.6 Mbps
