BankerFox & Nuqel virus

Post by zelda63 on Fri Feb 19, 2010 11:17 am

Hello! I also seem to be infected with Bankerfox & Nuqel. I tried downloading various malware detection programs but nothing is coming up during the scans; at least, nothing that I can see is related to bankerfox or nuqel. The only way I can get to the internet is using firefox; I can't get anywhere with IE. Thanks so much in advance for your help!

I ran the latest Hijack This program. Below is my log:

Post by Belahzur on Sat Feb 20, 2010 12:04 am

Hello.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:5555
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {C17590D2-ECB4-4b15-8820-F58798DCC118} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dknahvug] C:\Documents and Settings\Fran\Local Settings\Application Data\imxmrp\wjtlsftav.exe
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

Remove the Proxy setting in Internet Explorer and/or in FireFox.

    In Internet Explorer
  1. Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab ->Lan Settings > uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.

    In Firefox
  1. Tools Menu -> Options... -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection > Choose "No Proxy"
  2. Click the apply button and restart that computer in normal mode.

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

Download [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.

Re: BankerFox & Nuqel virus

Post by zelda63 on Sun Feb 21, 2010 12:33 am

Belahzur, I seem to have a problem. When I go to Add or Remove Programs it doesn't provide me with the list of apps. The box just reads "Please Wait While The List Is Being Populated". I first noticed this problem when the Bankerfox errors started. I waited for more than 5 minutes and nothing appeared. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
