Can't See Wireless Networks

Post by citygirl on Fri Feb 19, 2010 4:25 am

Hello,

As of 2 days ago, I was able to connect my personal laptop to my wireless network just fine. I could see my network and several others. All of a sudden, I can no longer see any private, secure networks. I can only see unsecured computer-to-computer networks.

Other laptops (including the work laptop that I am typing on) are able to see my private network connection and can connect to it. There definitely isn't an issue with the wireless router.

On my personal laptop, I haven't installed any new programs recently. I did a System Restore on my laptop, hoping that would resolve the issue. It didn't work. Do you have any ideas about why I cannot connect to my network?

Thank you!!

Do you have a network utility that can monitor the networks?

I am having the same problem, I am running windows xp sp3 with intel celeron 900mhz chip, 1 gig of ram, on an ASUS Eee netbook. All it sees are "unsecured computer to computer networks". I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Atheros AR7000EG wifi adapter, system restore, cleaning the registry, and uninstalling recently installed software. Please note that I installed "CLEAR connection manager" which I removed, but the problem still persists. Any information on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Try to go Device Manager > Uninstall Wireless Adapter.. Restart computer and install driver again. It should work, i'm not sure about that problem, but OS is just stupid software which should be refreshed some times.
