dropped laptop

Post by pc1180 on 24th January 2010, 5:58 pm

laptop was dropped so heavily a chunk was taken off the side of the case, now when switched on I get the toshiba splash screen and then boot manager is missing press ctrl alt del to restart ad nauseum, if I press f2 I get the bios and there appears to be no problem there and f8 brings up the usual things but if I go for repair it says problem with periphique load os disc and go for repair, problem is there is no os disc or recovery disc. I have another vista machine but it is 64 bit whereas the laptop is 32, iI tried the recovery disc from the 64bit but although the reinstall process starts it only gets so far, no c drive displays to choose and it infers that the hard drive is damaged. Any help gladly received

Hello,

Using the recovery disc from another computer won't work. I think your hard disk or motherboard is damaged.
