Downloaded Gamebooster... System blinked...

Post by Twist154 on 3rd January 2010, 6:34 am

After some of my gaming buddies told me about this program "gamebooster" I decided to check it out. I checked it with comodo all clean. Im running a malwarebyte full scan on it now but after I installed gamebooster I noticed my system blinked when accessing the internet. This all just happened within an hour from now. I ran hijackthis and received an message "For some reason your system denied write access to the host file" I tried doing what they said by going to the windows32, Drivers, etc, host looking for an entry with hijackthis in it to delete but there is nothing in the file with "hijackthis". I also tried to run this program as an administrator but I see no option when I right click the hijckthis.scr icon. Im running Windows 7 ultimate and here is what I got from the hijackthis report.

Moved to Software. We do not allow GPA students to post in the malware forums. If you ever need malware help, we have a thread in the Tutorials section in GeekPolice Academy.

In Windows Vista and 7, HijackThis does not get full permission to read and write to important system files. So, you must right click on HijackThis shortcut or program icon and click Run as Administrator.

I am going to also remove the HijackThis logs from above.
