HELP!!! MY COMPUTER IS INFECTED!!!!

Post by molly763 on Sat Dec 19, 2009 10:41 am

I know something is wrong with my computer because I can't run any anti-malware programs at all. I have Mal-warebytes Anti-Malware but whenever I click on it to run the program, nothing happens. If I keep trying, my computer automatically shuts down and restarts with a blue screen that says something about a crash. When my computer restarts, there's a box that pops up saying "Windows has recovered from an unexpected crash......" and I don't remember the rest. My computer runs fine otherwise. Its just that whenever I try to run any anti-malware program, either it won't open or my computer shuts down and restarts with that blue screen. One other thing, while I'm sitting here typing, I can hear advertisements even though this is the only online page that I have opened. There aren't any other opened tabs so how can I be hearing advertisements but not see them???? HELP!!!!! I followed the instructions and got a log from Hijackthis. I don't know if I did it correctly but here is the log.

Hello.
Is that a full log? half of the log is missing there.

Please re-run the Hijack This scan and post a new log.

That's another problem, when I run the program, there's a pop-up that says something about my computer not allowing certain files to be read and that HiJack this can't help. When I try and re-open the program, it says that HiJackThis is already running even though it isn't.
Oh yea, thanks sooooo much for replying back. I appreciate it a lot!!!

Yeah, HJT does get 1 error alert because your OS is Vista, UAC blocking access to the host file.

If it says Hijack This is already running, reboot your machine, then try again.

I did what you told me to but the HiJackThis dialogue pops up again saying that my system denied write access to the Host files. If any HiJack domains are in these files then HiJack may NOT be able to help. It also prompts me to try running the program as Run as Administrator but when I right-click to run as administrator, that option doesn't even show. So, I feel dumb and stuck now. What else can I do?

Hello.

The scan should continue anyway, regardless of that alert.

Hello.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: NCO 2.0 IE BHO - {602ADB0E-4AFF-4217-8AA1-95DAC4DFA408} - (no file)

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [richtx64.exe] C:\Users\LITTLE~1\AppData\Local\Temp\richtx64.exe

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

I followed all your steps and did everything you told me to do. When I tried to open MalwareBytes, nothing happened. It didn't even open. That's the problem. I already had this program on my computer its just that it won't open no matter how times I try to open it. I even tried to run it as administrator but like I said, nothing happens. This is so weird.

Download [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.
