BankerFox.A Virus

Post by tnsadler on Wed Dec 16, 2009 10:52 pm

Hello
I foudn your site when looking for any guidance on this. My wife calls to tell me a virus hit her computer. In checking this i note the BankerFox.A warning as shown on the other posters comments - clearly the same issue. I check into the malware bites download but this bankerfox will not let me open any file or program, giving me a warning that XXX file is infected, and asking me to connect to the site described by other users - with pops for 2 adult sites and 1 for viagra that incessantly try to launch. I downloaded the hijackthis program too - but nothing allows me to actually install anything to begin to resolve... I need help and would appreciate guidance on how to resolve this..
thank you

Trevor

Please download the current version of HijackThis from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Double click and run the installer.
  • It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  • After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  • Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.

  • Select the first option where it says "This special release provides a few key fixes.".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • In the Window that opens, select your platform and language, check the "agree" box, and click Continue.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save to your desktop.

  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u17-windows-i586.exe that you downloaded to install the newest version.

We can remove OTMoveIt now.

  • Press the green CleanUp! button.
  • Press Yes cleanup process prompt, do the same for the reboot prompt.
How is the machine running now?

This should be fine now.
