Request assistance with a nasty virus called Exploit Rogue Scanner type 820

Post by Shadowman on 22nd November 2009, 11:29 pm

As other members have posted, I am having some incredible frustration with a virus from Antivirus System Pro called Exploit Rogue Scanner. I've had this virus visit my system before and was successful in getting rid of it but now, it has come back with a vengence. It seems that it's gotten stronger and more difficult to deal with. As other members stated, it has completely hijacked my computer. I can't get on the internet, I can't go to any other programs like Registry Cleaners to do try to get rid of it, I can't bring up my Task Manager or do any other action. All I get is a constant stream of windows on my desktop and tool bar that tell me my computer is infected and they pop up like machine gun fire. Unbelievable.

I read some of the instructions given out but they seem to assume that the infected computer can access the internet. Mine can't. I've been relegated to my lap top on wireless so, if there is anything to download and install it would have to be to the lap top. I have tried to load vcleaner.exe from AVG on a stick and put that into my infected computer. It opened up and showed me the file, when I clicked on it I only got a window from Spybot that told me there was a virus -- vcleaner.exe -- and it erased it from the stick. WTF???

So, based on this...is there anything that can be done by me, under Geek Police supervision, to repair the problem or will I have to bring it in to Staples for them to fix? I await your response. Thank you in advance.

Please download the current version of HijackThis from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Double click and run the installer.
  • It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  • After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  • Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.

ok. My problem is that I can't do anything on my main computer because of the virus. Would I be able to download it to a stick and open it on the infected system? I don't think it'll allow me to install another program. What do you think?
