Browser corrupted

Post by thebrandons on 19th November 2009, 4:08 pm

I have the Alpha Antivirus on my home computer, so I went to a computer at the library to look up information on how to get rid of it, and I found this website. Unfortunately I can't log on to the internet at home to complete the instructions to remove the virus because, according to ATT/SBC, my browser is corrupted. They want to charge me $99 to fix the corrupted browser. They say that they can do this from their location and that I can just sit back and watch it happen. If there is any other way to fix my corrupted browser without spending any money, I would greatly appreciate that information. I just want to be able to log on at home and then follow the instructions to remove the virus. Thanks!!

Download this tool from another computer and transfer it to the infected one. Then run it as instructed.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log with a fresh copy of HijackThis log.

Post by thebrandons on 20th November 2009, 1:57 am

I am sorry, but I do not understand. If I download the tool to another computer, how do I transfer it to my computer?

Using a flash drive, external drive, or burning it to a CD.

Copy the file to either media, then transfer it to another computer, and copy the file on to the Desktop.
