Security System- Virus-Help

Post by itlk2aa on Fri Nov 13, 2009 7:48 pm

I have a lap top that has a wireless connection. I am now not able to log on to the Internet through my wireless connection.
I figured that it might be the Security System download that may have caused the problem so I uninstalled the program prior to looking for help. Unfortunatley I am not able to to download anything onto my computer because I can't connect to the Internet so I am also unable to follow your directions on what I need to do for your assistance. I am not able to download the Java Updates nor the "Hijack This".
Can you help me, I am desperate?

Please download the current version of HijackThis from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Double click and run the installer.
  • It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  • After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  • Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

Now I think I messed up the computer I was downloading info onto to send to you. Can I use the tools you gave me for the laptop to use on my desktop. It is XP.

  • Click Start >> Control Panel.
  • Under the Programs click Uninstall a Program
  • Highlight the following:

    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6
    LimeWire 5.1.2

  • Click on the Uninstall/Change button at the top.

You aren't running Anti Virus Software

Please install Avira antivirus otherwise you won't be protected.

1) [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
-Free anti-virus software for Windows.
-Detects and removes more than 50,000 viruses. Free support.

It is strongly recommended that you run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

Re: Security System- Virus-Help

I am not able to download any information from the Internet because I can not connect- This is the message I get when Trying to log onto the Internet:

The network adapter "WIRELESS NETWORK CONNECTION" is not correctly configured to use the IP protocol.

The network "Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN" is experiencing driver or hardware related issues-

Make sure your Internet Protocol Bindings are correct
Ensure that "internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and "internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" are selected in the configuration for the network adapter "Wireless Network connection"

I went through and checked the drivers and updated and all was updated then Made sure that the correct information was correct on the IP Bindings and downloaded AntiVir through a flashdrive and I'm not sure where or what was done, but I can now log on.

THANK YOU
