user invironment error messages/cannot log on

Post by sphattdesignz on 13th November 2009, 1:50 pm

Hi Guys! This is my first time posting, so be patient! A couple of days ago I had downloaded Jenket (sp?) game console and when closing out my internet, the game screen froze so I restarted my computer. When I restarted, my boot up screen came up and said that my keyboard was not functioning properly and that I should fix it before it fails. I then hit F1 to boot and I booted all the way to the windows log on screen, showed my HP Icon and I hit it to log in. I then get a message from User Invironment telling me that Windows cannot load locally stored profile due to insufficient security, and had a timer of about 30 seconds, then another message comes accross saying Windows cannot create a temp profile directory due to insufficient system resources., then another message telling me the same, and THEN, a message comes up telling me that my copy of Windows needed to be activated by Microsoft.
Man..Microsoft was an ordeal!! An Expensive one that did not help. They could not figure out, after 4 calls to tech support and 3 calls to the Product Activation people, whose issue this was. Finally, one of the techs worked with me for a while but was unable to resolve the issue without my having a WinXPPro Disk..My computer was given to my by my mother in law, who bought it from an Individual who worked for American Airlines in Houston, where they had upgraded their computers, and he Formatted the harddrives and refurbished the computers for sale. So therefore I have no disk, and could not get the product number without being able to access my desktop. The MS tech had me go into safemode and when it started to load in safemode it stopped right when it got to the system/32/avg...which is my security system. So we kept trying and eventually was able to get to my desktop in safemode. THEN she told me to restart before we ever did anything in safemode, and when I did that, could not get into safemode again and the only way they could help me was for me to pay them $65 to open a ticket, because Windows XP is not under warranty anymore. So I paid them, and without a disk, they still could not help me. I have no idea where to get a Boot disk and they could not tell me. SO...yesterday, I tried to get into safemode again after the computer being off all night, and was successfull. I ran an AVG scan and removed any threats, then ran system restore back to Friday, Nov 6 and all seems to be ok.
My computer ran chckdisk when this first happened and said that my hard drive had inconsistancies so I let that run, too, but am concerned about the stability of my hard drive. Sometime I have noticed lately that it seems to be doing something, even when I am not at the computer, the fan inside blows really loud. So right now I am online, obviously, and Windows did an update and restarted the computer during the night and it seems to be ok. I ran the Hijack This yesterday and will attach it below along with another Hijack This for today, just to compare after Windows update and restart. I hope this explanation gives enough insight to the problem.

    * Tools->Options->Main tab
    * Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

    2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

    3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
    4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
    5. Close any open browsers.
    6. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.
  • See [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for how to disable your AV.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will then get this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.
