Need help! Antivirus system pro - can't run downloads

Post by MDGuyy on 31st October 2009, 4:59 am

Hey,

My gf lovingly infected her laptop with the Antivirus System Pro (Win32/Nuqel.E as well as the BankerFox.A one as well) Where it launches the websites repeatedly, and most inconveniently, BLOCKS all .exe and other files that you recommend to use to clean it off. I tried locating some of the files (mixed sucess) and deleted those but really didn't seem to affect anything.

How do I go about conquering this thing? I can download everything, but when I go to run it it fails and throws up a (trojan produced) box that says it cannot be completed and holts the process.

Any help would be appreciated, I've already wasted 3+ hours on this and have pretty much gone no where.

Please download this file: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and save it to your desktop

Double click on exe_fix.com to run it

Type the number 1 at the prompt and allow the tool to run

==

Please download ComboFix from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Rename ComboFix.exe to commy.exe before you save it to your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools A guide to do this can be found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
  • Click Start>Run then copy paste the following command into the Run box & click OK "%userprofile%\desktop\commy.exe" /stepdel
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console

Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

  • Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the contents of C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Thanks but.......

Post by MDGuyy on 31st October 2009, 5:31 am

Thanks for the quick reply, however every time I try to do anything, whether its download something and open it, or simply try to open solitaire, I get this message "Application cannot be executed. the file (name).exe/etc (or in this case, the exe_....com) is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?"

I can't get around this, any application be it exe or otherwise is jammed by this trojan - so nothing I download will work - any thoughts on getting around it?

Please reboot to Safe Mode with Networking (tap the F8 key just before Windows starts to load and select the Safe Mode with Networking option from the menu).

Then, please repeat the steps above.
