System Tool won't let me download

Post by yomi54 on Thu Oct 22, 2009 10:49 pm

Hi I'm new and I don't know much.System Tool has infected my 70 yr old neighbors PC. I have been trying to get rid of it but no luck.I haven't been able to follow the intructions for a couple of reasons. The copy of windows has no firewall, system restore and I can't access window components. I have been able to open the taskmgr. but nȯne of the processes are numbered, I can't find the infected files. It will not let me download anything or access any websites. I feel responsible so please help me .I am not able to open in safe mode. this PC was given to him it was an agency laptop so a lot of the components are missing. It didn't have any anti-virus installed and now System Tool won't let me.Thanks

Please download ComboFix from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Rename ComboFix.exe to commy.exe before you save it to your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools A guide to do this can be found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
  • Click Start>Run then copy paste the following command into the Run box & click OK "%userprofile%\desktop\commy.exe" /stepdel
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console

Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

  • Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the contents of C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

I would also like to see a list of installed programs, so please do this:
Click Start > Run then copy/paste the following single-line command into the Run box and click OK:

C:\Qoobox\Add-Remove Programs.txt

In your next reply, please include the ComboFix log and the Add-Remove Programs log.

Hi I am unable to do any of the steps you outline.I can't access any websites ,I am unable to download or run any programs. This thing has it locked down. There is no firewall or antivirus or antispyware installed. The only thing it does is ask if you want to start protection when you say no it reboots and starts over again. I don't know how to reinstall windows. This thing has been going on for weeks how is this legal.

Please attempt to transfer the download from another computer to the infected one.
