Solved OS boot menu

Post by hotchicken33 on Sun Oct 04, 2009 12:20 am

I was trying to reformat my computer by autorun XP CD, but it told me I had newer version of XP which is XP SP3, so it could not install the new XP. Instead, it told me to boot it from the start up. So I did, and now the installation says it cannot find my hard drives. So I just gave up on reformatting my computer.

Now the problem starts here. The Windows XP install selection still exists in my OS boot menu. It gives me 0 second to choose from (Windows XP, Windows XP Installation, and Recovery console). And my keyboard does not function in the selection screen. So I have to press F8 before that menu pops up. And then select "Start windows normally" then to Windows XP selection. That is the only way for me to start the computer at the moment.

Is there a way to get my computer to boot straight to Windows XP without this selection screens?

Hello,

Start >> run >> msconfig >> Boot tab >> Timeout >> select your desire timing.

Is there a way to get rid of the choice menu completely and let it boot straight to Windows XP?

Hello,

Yes there is. Set the timeout to 0.
