Solved win32/cryptor and my internet connection

Post by tjmerriman on 24th September 2009, 3:06 pm

My laptop had the win32/cryptor virus. Using antimalware and AVG and everything else we finally got rid of the virus... well, the scans of the computer came back clean so, i assume we got rid of the virus. I am still having issues however connecting to the internet using an ethernet cord and plugging into the jack. When I try to pull up a page it says page can not be found. I have tried numerous pages with no luck. Please help... I don't want to trash my computer! Thank you!

Is my question difficult to answer? Or, does it keep getting skipped over? My friends who use this site say they usually receive a response the same day they post.

Thank you, Jessica

Hello,

Open CMD, Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults by typing: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults by typing: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Restart your PC.

If it doesn't work, download Winsock XP Fix from here, save it to your Desktop.
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html

Double click on the exe on your Desktop.
Press the "Fix" button, then restart again.

See if you can connect now.

CMD means command. Looks like the old DOS windows if you've ever used 'em.

To open CMD you just gotta type cmd in the "start->run..." window. After that, piece of cake.

*Also, sorry to the admins for rubberneckin'!!*
