Please download the current version of HijackThis from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Double click and run the installer.
  • It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  • After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  • Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.

Hello.
Please update MBAM. Go into the update tab, hit "check for updates".
Let it download the latest database, then run a new scan.

Copy/paste the new log back here.

  • Please download DDS by sUBs to your Desktop (Important!!) from one of these locations:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
  • Double click DDS.scr to run.
  • When complete, two logs will open. Save both of the report to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste DDS.txt back here, I don't need to see attach.txt just yet.

Re: Cannot update Windows, virus? help please

Post by Belahzur on 11th September 2009, 1:35 am

Hello.

  • Click Start >> Control Panel.
  • Under the Programs click Uninstall a Program
  • Highlight the following:

    Java(TM) 6 update 3
    Java(TM) 6 update 5
    Java(TM) 6 update 7

  • Click on the Uninstall/Change button at the top.

Remove the Proxy setting in Internet Explorer and/or in FireFox.

    In Internet Explorer
  1. Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab ->Lan Settings > uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.

    In Firefox
  1. Tools Menu -> Options... -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection > Choose "No Proxy"
  2. Click the apply button and restart that computer in normal mode.

Can you update MBAM now?

You aren't running Anti Virus Software

Please install Avira antivirus otherwise you won't be protected.

1) [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
-Free anti-virus software for Windows.
-Detects and removes more than 50,000 viruses. Free support.

It is strongly recommended that you run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

Hello.
I haven't given up, just we get so much traffic lately, one or two posts get left behind and we miss it. We ask anyone we miss to bump their post after 2 days with no reply.

Press Start > Run.
Type in cmd, then press enter.

At the DOS prompt execute the following commands, one by one.
Press the enter key after each entry.

regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Msjava.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Browseui.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll

Type Exit press enter to return the operating mode.

Reboot normally.

Do updates work now?

I take it that didn't work.

Do you get a specific error on update failure? every bit of information you can include helps me figure something out.

Lets try this. Go to Start > Run. In the Run box, copy/paste in the following:

regsvr32 Dssenh.dll Gpkcsp.dll Slbcsp.dll Sccbase.dll

Then reboot normally.
Let me know if you can update now.
