Difficulty Removing Personal Antivirus!

I got the Personal Antivirus application to hack into my computer last night. This morning I tried using multiple programs, (including MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware). I did this in Safe-Mode with Networking, it seemed to do the trick. As it rebooted, it booted up normally and I wanted to do a Full Scan just in case to make sure everything was removed. During the scan, I noticed that the PA has came back, but I was quickly able to delete the file. By the time the Full Scan was done, an additional ~46 files were infected. So I pressed to have it removed, it had the computer start. Here's where the problem starts. Now most of all the .exe files WILL NOT work. Including, firefox.exe, mbam.exe, C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe, etc. Is there anyway to fix this now? I am trying to run on safe-mode but unsure of the next steps.

Edit: Ok, so putting the computer back into Safe Mode with Networking, the .exe files continued to not work. It would open up a box saying Open Programs With.. and if you'd match the program, it would work. I got the MBAM to work again, did another quick scan, found more infected files, rebooted, and the .exe files now seem to work properly again. However, it seems that my computer has taken a significant toll in slowing down. Can the computer still be infected?

Please download the current version of HijackThis from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Double click and run the installer.
  • It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  • After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  • Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.

  • Choose "Do a system scan only"

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.


Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

Sorry to bump this, but I've been away for college and left this computer home to collect dust. But the unfortunate thing is that during break, it's the only computer available and I realize that it's VERY slow. It refuses to even turn on, or it restarts as soon as it hits the welcome screen. Can this still be the likely effect of the virus? Things like this have never happened before my computer was infected. I was thinking of reinstalling the hard drive (but I would have to purchase a new CDROM drive since it's broke, and not sure if it's worth it). Would it work fine if I was able to reinstall it?

Well, I would say it's worth getting a new CDRom, they don't fail too often and last at least a few years.

Formatting would fix everything, formatting it means going back to the basics, Windows only.

Great, thank you. Wasn't sure if it's probably just the computer getting old (it's not even that old, maybe soon 3 years?) But just that after the damn virus, everything got shitty.
