Unknown malware

Post by Uthanak on 10th August 2009, 12:01 am

I tryed alot of guides before posting here, this is a sort of last resort, my currently installed version of malwarebyte's anti malware wouldn't run, then the pc got from bad to worse and when I rebooted it started freezing for no eason, after several tries, it started not even loading windows on reboot, just a black screen and a moveable black cursor. At this point i started in safemode with networking and tryed getting help, nothing would work, not renaming mbam.exe or anything, the new version download would not run either. I tryed making hijack this work, to no success, even after renaming. At this point, besides posting here, I have no idea what to do. I am posting this while running in safemode with net working. The malware seems to be still working, redirecting the gogle searches to other pages with weird url: web-analitycs.google.something. I have no idea what to do, I would like help please.

Please download the current version of HijackThis from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Double click and run the installer.
  • It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  • After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  • Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.

  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.

Re: Unknown malware

Post by Uthanak on 10th August 2009, 2:21 am

I did what you told me, tho I changed the name of mbam for something else upon saving it. When I ran the installer it took few seconds to reach "finishing installing" then it remain at this for a really long period of time (~15 minutes) after that I checked both boxes like asked and clicked okay and the setup window went blank and remained like that for a log period of time. After that, it dissapeared. The application did not run, and running it manually does not work, nothing happens. What could I do?

After a couple million tries, I managed to get anti malware to work, the first quick scan was done with an outdated version and removed some 208 infections and asked to reboot, after I updated the anti malware and ran a quick scan again, it reoved another 5 infections and here is the log:

Hello.

  • Download combofix from here
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

    1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

    * Tools->Options->Main tab
    * Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

    2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

    3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
    4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
    5. Close any open browsers.
    6. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.
  • See [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for how to disable your AV.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will then get this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Re: Unknown malware

Post by Belahzur on 10th August 2009, 8:56 pm

Now open a new notepad file.
Input this into the notepad file:

File::
c:\windows\system32\drivers\kdvegt.sys
c:\windows\system32\drivers\zfibn.sys
C:\722h.exe
C:\72h.exe
C:\23d2s2327h.exe
C:\23ds2327h.exe
C:\3ds2327h.exe
C:\3ds327h.exe
C:\3ds27h.exe
C:\3222227h.exe
c:\program files\qjhnfze.txt
C:\32227h.exe
C:\3227h.exe
C:\327h.exe
C:\2o322re.exe
C:\2vo2te.exe
C:\2vote.exe
C:\vote.exe

Registry::
[HKLM\~\services\sharedaccess\parameters\firewallpolicy\standardprofile\AuthorizedApplications\List]
"%windir%\\system32\\drivers\\svchost.exe"=-

Driver::
fmpqvxxg

Save this as CFScript.txt, save it to your desktop also.
Then drag and drop CFScript.txt into combofix as seen below:

This will open combofix again, agree to it's terms and allow it to run.
It may want to reboot after it's done. (It will warn you if it wants to)
Post the resulting log back here.

Hello.

Half of that worked, half of it didn't.

Please download the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTM.exe to run it.
  • Copy the bolded text below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose CopyCrying

    :files
    C:\*.exe

  • Return to OTMoveIt, right click in the "Paste instructions for items to be Moved" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please post the OTMoveIt log.

Hello.

Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bolded text into the Run box and click OK:

ComboFix /u

This will also reset your restore points.

How is the machine running now?

It said Combofix was uninstalled with success and the relink problem is gone, but the black screen problem is still around.
What am I supposed to do with OTmover and the moved files?

Delete the C:\_OTM folder now.
The screen problem could be a hardware fault.

Installed any new hardware lately?
How old is the graphics card you currently have in the machine now?

Deleted. No new hardware, the graphic card is about 3 years old, but was already old technology back then, it'S a Geforce 256Mb a 6800 I think...

Wow, that's old now. LMBO or ROFL

I would advise you to open topic in the hardware section, best thing to do is buy a new and better graphics card, see if that helps.

Ok, thanks for the help, but could it also be a problem in the default settings to load windows that I might have accidentally touched while going into safe mode?
