Please download the current version of HijackThis from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Double click and run the installer.
  • It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  • After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  • Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.

Everything on my son's computer is disabled and he can't get online or run any removal program. I put Hijack this on a CD on my computer and when I tried to install on his it said windows cannot access this file permission denied.

Now what????

Can you try this renamed version? the malware is blocking that one you tried.

I have that one also. Same result. Windows cannot open it. I don't have permission. I also have combo-fix (renamed version). It does not work. This is impossible.

See if you can run this:

Download the GMER rootkit scan from here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  1. Unzip it and start GMER.
  2. Click the >>> tab and then click the Scan button.
  3. Once done, click the Copy button.
  4. This will copy the results to your clipboard.
  5. Paste the results in your next reply.
Note:
If you're having problems with running GMER.exe, try it in safe mode. This tools works in safe mode.
You can also try renaming it since some malware blocks GMER.

Ran GMER for almost an hour then all of a sudden it disappeared! Poof! I think when the scan came to where the virus is hiding it stopped it. I tried to re-run it but access denied. All of this was done in safe mode. I tried to rename it ....no dice. One smart virus. NOW WHAT CAN I DO?

Please download SilentRunners from here:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Unzip it to the desktop and double-click on it. If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run. When the scan is finished, a message will pop up and a logfile will have been created on the desktop. Please post the entire contents of this logfile for me to see.

It ran and I got the logfile however I have no internet access and am trying to put it on a cd to send from my mom's computer. When I prompt"write files to CD" it says that there is no CD in drive but there is. Maybe I can look for a certain file to remove? It is not letting me burn the CD.

Re: New Trojans (AVCare) has disabled internet and everything el

Hello.

Please temporarily uninstall Spybot, because TeaTimer is active and it will interfere with our removal. You can install it again after were done, that is if you want to.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs.

    Spybot Search & Destroy

Next,

  • Now open a new notepad file.
  • Input this into the notepad file:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "SpybotSD TeaTimer"=-
    "Monopod"=-

  • Save this as fix.reg, save it to your desktop.
  • Double click fix.reg to run it.
  • Select yes to the registry merge prompt.

Next, reboot normally.

Now delete the following two files.
C:\Windows\Tasks\{7B02EF0B-A410-4938-8480-9BA26420A627}.job
C:\Windows\Tasks\{BB65B0FB-5712-401b-B616-E69AC55E2757}.job

Now see if you can run Hijack This.

Does it show saved as a .reg file or .reg.txt file?

Ah. Lets try importing it then. I need you to move the fix.reg file into your C:\ drive, so it will be located at C:\fix.reg

Go to Start > Run. In the run box, copy/paste in the follow, do not edit it in any way or this won't work.

reg import "C:\fix.reg"

Hit enter. Now reboot.
Let me know if there is any change after reboot, if you can run exe files now.

I did this the app pops up for a second and disappears quickly. The virus recognizes it and stops it.

Hello.
It still worked though, when you do that via the command prompt, a black cmd window opens and closes real quick, that's normal.
Run SilentRunners again and post a new log, I want to see if it worked.

Re: New Trojans (AVCare) has disabled internet and everything el

Post by Belahzur on 10th August 2009, 3:34 pm

Hello.

  • Download combofix from here
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

    1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

    * Tools->Options->Main tab
    * Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

    2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

    3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
    4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
    5. Close any open browsers.
    6. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.
  • See [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for how to disable your AV.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will then get this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

The infected computer does not have internet access so I download from mine, rename it, put it on a cd and send to my son's desktop from the cd. I double click combo-fix, the green bar shows up and nothing else happens. Can't get a combo-fix to run, or hijack this or anything else that might disable a trojan.

Using Windows Explorer (Windows key + E] Navigate to the Tasks folder following the past given.

First C:\ drive, then into the Windows folder. Now find the Tasks folder. Go inside the Tasks folder and the two malicious files I pointed out are there.

Delete them, let me know how it goes.

I deleted the two files and still cannot run anything. When I try to connect to the internet, windows doesn't have permission to connect to the router. Without connecting to the internet this seems doomed. When I download something on my computer and try to put it on a cd it says all of the file can't be copied and then it doesn't run on my sons computer. I'm getting desperate, been stuck with this since Friday.

Hello.
I know nothing has changed, that's because the avenger script wasn't mean to fix it, it just deleted a patched file that was causing all the programs to fail running.

Now it's gone, we can really give it the hammer.
Please download Hijack This from here:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Download and run. Do a system scan with logfile, copy/paste the log back here.

Okay couldn't run HT as winlogon but instead got MBAB to run renamed as winlogon. Running a full scan now, I am soooo sick of this.

Re: New Trojans (AVCare) has disabled internet and everything el

Post by Belahzur on 11th August 2009, 7:17 pm

Hello.

  • Download combofix from here
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

    1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

    * Tools->Options->Main tab

Hello.
Yes, we tried it before but the malware was corrupting it. The infected file was also a legit file and needs replacing, that's why we need Combofix.

There is something hiding somewhere that won't let me access my router or a bunch of other files. Windows still does not have permission. This is crazy.

Now open a new notepad file.
Input this into the notepad file:

File::
c:\windows\system32\flashd.dll
c:\windows\system32\xa.tmp

Driver::
npggsvc

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet002\Services\npggsvc]
[HKLM\~\services\sharedaccess\parameters\firewallpolicy\standardprofile\AuthorizedApplications\List]
"c:\\StubInstaller.exe"=-
"%windir%\\system32\\drivers\\svchost.exe"=-

Save this as CFScript.txt, save it to your desktop also.
Then drag and drop CFScript.txt into combofix as seen below:

This will open combofix again, agree to it's terms and allow it to run.
It may want to reboot after it's done. (It will warn you if it wants to)
Post the resulting log back here.

Hello.
Don't give up just yet, we have other tools we can use.

Please download the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTM.exe to run it.
  • Copy the bolded text below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose CopyCrying

    :services
    npggsvc

    :files
    c:\windows\system32\flashd.dll
    c:\windows\system32\xa.tmp

    :reg
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet002\Services\npggsvc]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\services\sharedaccess\parameters\firewallpolicy\standardprofile\AuthorizedApplications\List]
    "c:\\StubInstaller.exe"=-
    "%windir%\\system32\\drivers\\svchost.exe"=-

  • Return to OTMoveIt, right click in the "Paste instructions for items to be Moved" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please post the OTMoveIt log.

I forgot to add that even after all of these fixes, AVG is still disabled. No scan button and MBAM finds nothing.
