Solved HD7.1ALC888chipset driver

Post by Desubeamer on Wed 29 Jul 2009, 11:24 am

Hi everyone,

After a reformat yesterday from vista to xp(hdd crashed) I've been chatting with HP tech support all day to find a single driver that works with my computer using XP media center. I installed many of them but none of them even show the sound card/allow me to hear sound at all, and some of the tech support told me I needed to order the recovery disk and reformat to windows vista with that in order to hear sound.

I don't really want to, so I had them tell me the name of the sound card and spent several hours trying to find the driver myself, it isn't on the hp website. I managed to get my ethernet driver from nVidia, so I was wondering if this was the same deal.

Could anyone help me hunt this driver down?
Its for a High Def 7.1 ALC 888 chipset sound card
comp is a HP Pavillion a6000n with a AMD 64 live dualcore.

Do I really have to go back to vista? I might just deal with having no sound...

Thank you.
P.S-ty dr. inferno for that post on System Security, spent a few hours trying to kill that monster, wouldn't let me into taskmgr

I'm not sure if this one will work but it's worth trying:

Download the one on the second row for XP.
