Hello.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O4 - Global Startup: $McRebootA5E6DEAA56$.lnk = C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe
    O18 - Filter: x-sdch - (no CLSID) - (no file)
    O23 - Service: McAfee Application Installer Cleanup (0177441246202787) (0177441246202787mcinstcleanup) - McAfee, Inc. - C:\Users\actionms\AppData\Local\Temp\017744~1.EXE

O23 - Service: McAfee SystemGuards (McSysmon) - Unknown owner - C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\mcsysmon.exe (file missing)

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

Reboot when asked to.

You aren't running Anti Virus Software

Please install Avira antivirus otherwise you won't be protected.

1) [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
-Free anti-virus software for Windows.
-Detects and removes more than 50,000 viruses. Free support.

It is strongly recommended that you run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

thank you so much for the help. I did what you said except I could not find the C:/ users in the log. I had mcafee but I uninstalled it because it said I was not protected and it gave an error when I tried the fix option. This has happened a few times. The computer just turns off and sometimes like this time when I would restart the computer it would turn off everytime usually right after putting in the sign on password. In the past I just did a system restore in safe mode but it did not work this time. Do you have any idea what causes this. I also did install the avira. Do you think my problem is solved? Thanks again

Hello, the C:\ drive isn't a line but the rest if the O23 line it just didn't fit Wink

It might have been that Mcafee wasn't registered that's why it gave you that error.

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

Here are the malware bytes results. I wanted to add that this has happened several times and I have tried numeros programs to try and figure this out including malware bytes and mcafee and many others and none of them detect a virus. a system restore has worked in the past but not this time. The computer is working now so whatever you had me remove seems to have fixed it. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.38

Hmm, this could be a hardware issue, the log looks fine to me.
Installed any new hardware recently?

no. every time this happens it disables my anti virus whether it is mcafee or now avira. I just got a pop up yhat said spyware doctor a little while ago and it looked like it was running a scan but i closed it. avira blocked a couple of things they are below. I would add that I can update avira and computer is fine for awhile but when it shuts off and i have to go to safe mode avir is turned off.Virus or unwanted program 'HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen [virus]'

Hello.

1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

* Tools->Options->Main tab
* Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
5. Close any open browsers.
6. We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.

  • See [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for how to disable your AV. (Avira)
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouse click combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

I think this is probably overheating, no malware as far as I can see.

Hello.
Well, in safe mode, there is less running and that makes less stress on the machine, unlike normal where everything is running.

  • Click Start >> Control Panel.
  • Under the Programs click Uninstall a Program
  • Highlight Java(TM) 6 Update 3
  • Click on the Uninstall/Change button at the top.

The best I can do is stop all un-needed startup items and that should speed up startup and make it run slightly better, then pass you onto Doctor.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IgfxTray] C:\Windows\system32\igfxtray.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HotKeysCmds] C:\Windows\system32\hkcmd.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Persistence] C:\Windows\system32\igfxpers.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Apoint] C:\Program Files\Apoint2K\Apoint.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NDSTray.exe] NDSTray.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HWSetup] \HWSetup.exe hwSetUP
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Google Desktop Search] "C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe" /startup
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RtHDVCpl] RtHDVCpl.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe Reader Speed Launcher] "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\Reader_sl.exe"
    O23 - Service: Symantec Lic NetConnect service (CLTNetCnService) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exe (file missing)
    O23 - Service: InstallDriver Table Manager (IDriverT) - Macrovision Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\1150\Intel 32\IDriverT.exe

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

Go to Start > Run. In the search box, type "cmd" and let it search. When it finds the cmd.exe, right click it and select "Run as administrator"

When the command prompt opens, type in:

sc delete "CLTNetCnService"

Type it exactly as seen, and hit enter.

Re: computer just turns off

Post by hawkrefr on Wed Jul 01, 2009 4:05 am

I havr done what you said. after the last time I reinstalled avira and dunped the temporary files my computer has been working fine. I believe whatever was infecting my computer came from a site called surf the channel that I enjoy watching old tv shows on. I think it was in their advertising and a lot of people were complaining. Today they have not advertising and they had a lot. Again I can not thank you enough and I will be making a donation. Take care Clyde
