cant enable system restoe in windows xp

Solved cant enable system restoe in windows xp

when i try to access it says its turned off do i want to turn on. i say yes and it goes properties/sys restore tab. shows checked box for disabled. and shows hard drive c: as turned off. when i uncheck and try to apply or save setting i get a popup box that says. "system restored encountered an error trying to enable/disable one of your drives. plese restart your machine and try again. which i have done numerous time to no avail.

please help.
