Personal Anti virus

Post by kas28 on Tue 21 Jul 2009, 6:20 pm

Thanks so much for helping me get rid of this virus. Thanks also to the person who said they had to download the malware program onto a CD and then load it on their computer. I had to do the same thing as the virus was not letting me get to any sites that would potentially get rid of it.

Just a question regarding this 'Personal Antivirus' removal - I'll download the recommended fix but I would like to know why my McAfee AV program didn't catch this and can't remove it.

Hello bh77,

Malware writers specifically wrote the malware code to bypass top antivirus softwares.

It's also difficult to develop an antivirus to detect the signature or behaviour of a virus which no one will see until after it has begun its infection.

Hello,
I had to do the same thing. I downloaded it to my laptop to a CD then loaded into my desktop. Inferno I could just kiss you. I've been trying all day to find out how to get rid of this junk without having to pay "Spyware Doctor" to do it for me. I think they're in on the scam too.
Thanks

works

Post by danielgwaters on Fri 24 Jul 2009, 2:04 pm

Using the malwarebytes anti-malware really worked. At first, I didn't know how to get in on the computer since the Personal Anti-virus program was stopping it, but I copied from another PC and loaded it that way and did the updates and I could hardly believe that it worked. The computer repair store wanted $130 to do the same thing. Thank you very much.

be sure to update after downloading.
first time running, didn't find pav, then after updating, it found and removed it.
restarted after removing malware and checked for updates, again.
there was another update already!

thank you. I got rid of this Personal Antivirus thing. Your instructions were clear. Thanks so much. Is it not possible to report these people to the police? It's a serious crime. It is like somebody has just come to your house and dumped a whole lot of garbage on your lawn and parked themselves there and then asked you to pay them to remove it ... the cyber version.

Good thing I handled this before my dad started buying things.
(He thinks he knows everything there is to know about viruses and such.)
Thankyou.
