Can browse sites but can't do anything else.
I recently changed my ISP due to better rates, and everything has been going ok until about a week ago. I can browse sites flawlessly, but i can't download any kind of file, i can't view any kind of streaming video (other than you-tube, weird), i can download torrents though. I once left a download link open by accident as i went to sleep only to discover the next morning i could download. Delighted as i was i pressed ok to download and after i waited for about half an hour to connect i got the amazing speed of 1.4 bytes/sec. I tried resetting my router several times to no avail and calling the ISP didn't help as on their side everything seemed ok and the connection was active. Connecting to online games seems to be either a hit or miss, sometimes i get the can't connect message, other times i can login and play for about 5 minutes before i disconnect. I use a Thomson 585 v7 router, windows vista OS, connecting through ethernet. If you need more information i'll provide if i can. I do not have the ability to test other routers/pcs or check the connection through wireless.

Hello,
Hello,
Please start Internet Explorer, and when the program is open, click on the Tools menu and then select Internet Options.
Start >> run >> CMD, Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults by typing: netsh winsock reset catalog
Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults by typing: netsh int ip reset reset.log
Restart your PC.
See if you can connect now.
Hello,
Please start Internet Explorer, and when the program is open, click on the Tools menu and then select Internet Options.
- Now click on the Connections tab and then the Lan Settings button
- Under the Proxy Server section, please uncheck the checkbox labeled Use a proxy server for your LAN.
- Click the OK button to close this screen. Then press the Apply button and then the OK button to close the Internet Options screen. Now that you have disabled the proxy server you will be able to browse the web again with Internet Explorer.
Start >> run >> CMD, Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults by typing: netsh winsock reset catalog
Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults by typing: netsh int ip reset reset.log
Restart your PC.
See if you can connect now.
